Grass Cutting Tips

Never cut grass too short. Short grass can cause damage to the grass blade to be less healthy. It also allows sunlight to reach the soil which enables weeds to flourish.
Keep mower blades sharp. Dull blades tear the grass blade allowing disease and insects to enter the grass blade.
Adjust blade height for summer and the last fall cuttings. Taller grass in summer and shorter grass in late fall is best.
Mow when the lawn is dry. Mowing when the grass is damp can result in an uneven lawn and mower wheels can case ruts.
Change the grass cutting pattern. Avoid mowing in the same direction each time you mow to avoid creating ruts.
Grasscycling is an option if the grass is cut before it gets too high. Grass clippings can add fertilization value.
